Re: Daniel Kermode and Martha Kirk/Quirck IOM

To: Len Fargher. Thank you very much for this information. On the census, the name is spelled KERMODE and not KERNEAD as it was transcribed. These are the people my grandpa and the rest of us have been looking for many years. I recently found Daniel listed in the "Cleveland Directory" which can be accessed now along with many other books from the local library through Heritage Quest Online. Also, recently I found that my mother and I remembered at my great aunt Josie's funeral, who would be the last of these five sisters, that the family was talking about that she had visited cousins in Idaho at one time. I was only 11 at the time which is about 40 years ago, but I just thought I would check it out. I found that in Leland, Nez Perce, Idaho census, there is a family group which consists of Quirk members along with Anna Kermode. There is also this Edna M. Quirk who is a cousin from Michigan living with them on the farm. This also ties in to part of the family in Illinois. I know I'm not being quite specific here as I am away from information right now, but a lot of our family history can be tied into a few things that we are finding but we don't know how to connect everyone. Another name connected is Kermode F. Gill from Cleveland. Also, in Rochester, NY there were supposedly cousins from family history again.
The name is listed as Kirk on the death certificates of all the girls, but that marriage license in St. Jude, West Derby along with other things leads us all to know that Martha's maiden name was Quirk. Family history agains says that they landed at PA, went to Rochester, to Cleveland, and then to St. Louis. We have always heard that someone was also a confectioner in the family. Thanks again.
