Many thanks for information on Manx Notebook and Manx Museum etc. As you say the information isn't very much and I don't really know how to find out much more unless there is something in local libraries etc. We are only on the island for a couple of days so not much time and how best to use it? I need to look at some church registers in particular Braddon, St Marks and St Matthews, Douglas pre 1781. Would these be in the Manx Museum Library? Also to follow up this Stuart/Stewart connection (we have both spellings in the family as first and second names) I need to look at the Bride church records. I know there were Fells there in the later 1800s along with the Jougins. Also I guess wills might be a help. We only know about the Stuart conneciton by word of mouth passe don down the generations, just that there is a connection with the Royal Stuart family, maybe even as far back as Mary Stuart. I have only just started looking into this connection seriously, and seeing message on Manx genealogy just prior to our visit to the island was brilliant. Thanks again.
