I have just this specific Stuart enquiry, and it concerns James Francis Edward Stuart (known to history as The Old Pretender), son of King James II/VII. There is a story that his illegitimate daughter Margaret (b ca. 1709) was abducted by a smuggler called Joughin (no doubt the one mentioned in La Mothe's Manx Yarns, pp. 164-6), who took her across to the Isle of Man and married her at Bride on 26th Januuary 1730/1.
Has anyone heard this story, and can anyone put it on a historical footing?
