Re: previous request for information regarding 1. William Henry Quayle (parents believed to be John and Jane Quayle from IGI individual records Christening Ballaugh I.O.M. - 5 May 1842 and 1851 census for Lezayre - courtesy of Brian Lawson).
1. Married Ann Quayle - nee Tomlinson (from IGI records - 29 August 1863 Kirk Michael, I.O.M)
Both above are not proven, but details of marriage match parents of known ancestors.
2 & 3. Daughter: Elizabeth Jane Quayle, christened 13 May 1866, Lonan. I.O.M. (Great Grandmother) married Richard Hayes, Iron Turner, (born Bury, parents Abraham Hayes and Jane nee Bilsborrow), in Barrow in Furness 17th December 1892 - children: Philip (grandfather born 14.September 1893, died 5 March 1957) Jane, b approx 1894, Richard, b app 1896, Rueben b app 1897 and William born after 1901.
2. Son: Philip Quayle, christened 12 July 1868, Lonan, I.O.M.
2. Daughter: Jessie Quayle, christened 14 August 1870, Lonan. I.O.M. married John Hexham between July-September 1890.
1. William (lead miner - age 28) & Anne Quayle (wife age 27) and Elizabeth Jane (age5), Philip (age 2) & Jessie (age 9 months) are shown on 1871 census for Lonan district (courtesy - Brian Lawson).
1. Following the death of William (possibly died or buried 10 March 1872, age 29, at Lonan there is also a burial of a William Henry age 27 months on 7 January 1871 that could be a child of William & Ann - I only checked I.G.I. christening records for names listed on 1881 census- burial info again from Brian Lawson's webiste), Ann left the I.O.M. and is recorded on the I.G.I. census for 1881 as living in Barrow in Furness, Lancashire with Jane (Elizabeth dropped on census), Philip and Jessie lodging at 22 Brewery St. Ann's age is shown as 31. Both Jane & Philip are shown as 15 and Jessie 10, all are employed at the local Jute factory.
1 & 2. By the 1891 census Jessie has married, Ann (42) and Elizabeth Jane (25) are living at 34 Fisher St, Barrow in Furness and Jane's future husband Richard Hayes (23 - see above for details of marriage) is one of 9 lodgers and Ann is a living on own means.
1, 2, & 3. On the 1901 census Ann is recorded as age 56 which is nearer her correct age, but Richard is recorded as 31 and Elizabeth Jane as 32, they are living with Ann, and their children listed above along with 7 of Ann's lodgers at 4 Albert St, Barrow in Furness.
3. I know that by the time my grandparents married opn 26th May 1915 - Philip Hayes (as above) and Genevieve Birkett, (born Lancaster, 6th April 1894 - parents George (Sawyer's labourer), mother Sarah Birkett (nee Smith) Ann, Elizabeth, Richard and family had moved to 74 Church St, Barrow in Furness, where Ann still took in lodgers.
2. I have not been able to find Philip (son of William & Ann) on the 1891 census (name index at records office) I now have the Lancashire 1901 census on disk but because it is not name indexed I went to the local records office to find the page numbers for my great grandparents forgetting to check for Philip. If anyone can help me further my enquiries or find further information on Philip I would be very grateful.
1 = William & Ann
2 = Children of above
3 = Grandchildren
