I've connected with a wonderful distant cousin in Ontario who found some Radcliffe documents for me.
Because of that info I've had to AGAIN scrap my hopefully possible family connection. It appears my Radcliffe/Quark (Quirk) family is not going to work after all this.
Now, with my new info, if anyone can help me PLEASE I'd greatly appreciate it!!
Marriage documents (to Mary Ann Arnald on 10 June 1862) are giving my George Radcliffe (b 1842 or 1843 Sandwich South, Ontario) parents as William and Ann. I know George had a much older brother William (born about 1826) and George was the last child. I also know from Canadian census records Wm (Sr), father of George, was born about 1794 IOM and Wm Jr was born about 1826 IOM.
Marriage documents found for Wm Jr’s second(?) marriage to J. Robertson on 29 Sept 1862 show his parents as Wm & Ann.
There are others in that area of Ontario with parents Wm & Ann & birthdates that most likely put them as siblings born, in Ontario, between Wm Jr and George.
(I believe there were brothers John & Thomas also.)
Also!! Big THANKS to whomever that wonderful person was that posted the website showing lists of “Known Manx Emigrants, Ships & Manifests”.
On a ship “Baroque Ocean” leaving Liverpool 20 May, arriving New York 13 July 1827, there are a number of Radcliffe’s listed among the 130 Manx passengers.
Among those… Line 19 has a Wm Radcliffe – labourer age 32, Wm Radcliffe – age 1 and Ann – age 23 are listed.
Those birthdates of both Williams fall exactly at the app birth dates I have for George’s father & older brother.
Does anyone out there know anything about these Radcliffe’s????
William born about 1794-1795 who married an…
Ann born about 1804 (that app birthdate comes from if these are the same as those ship passengers) who together had a child…
William born about 1826…
Before they left the Isle of Man ??????
Siblings?, Parents? What part of the Island they may be from?
Where I might go to find any possible info??
ANYTHING, anyone has to offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much for your time & trouble.
Terri
