Re: Thomas Quiliam
In Response To: Re: Thomas Quiliam ()

Tim, Nigel & Frances,

Thank you for your help. I had looked at the IGI and found Robert Quilliam abd Joney Quine listed as parents, but I don't trust the IGI. I have seen too many mistakes. I went back and looked again and found one with EXTRACTED records and film reference listing Robert and Joney. That's something I can check.

Tim, you made me go back and look at IGI and I found this. Nigel--nice to have a new cousin. Please keep in touch. Frances, if you find that emigration record, please let me know. If you have access to the 1830 OH census for Lorain Co, Thomas Quilliam is listed there with wife and 6 children. Cemetery records say one son, Thomas, died there in 1827 at 11 years of age. Another, John, died in 1830 at 16--don't know if he is listed in the census or if there was another teen aged son. Also "QUILLIAM, Carolina C, wife of Thomas, d 23 Apr, 1833, 48 y." Marriage records from Lorain Co state that Elizabeth Quilliam married Cyrus Chase Jenks 19 APR 1832. The biography of one of the sons of Cyrus and Elizabeth (Cyrus Henry) states that his mother was from Isle of Man. I put all this information together to get to this point. From here on back I will need to rely on people from Isle of Man who have access to the records or can tell me where to find them. This long distance research is only successful when you find cousins to work with.

If any of you need to get in touch with me, my email is gcmcd@comcast.net. Feel free to email me. I would like to share what I have on this family and learn more about them.

Thanks again, Claire
