IGI has the children of Daniel and Elizabeth to have a Daniel Robert Goldsmith as their father. The 1881 census shows Daniel R. Goldsmith from Maughold with Elizabeth from German and children in Lonan.
It seems that he could be the son of William Goldsmith and Isabel Kermode who farmed at Ard in Maughold in 1841 and further up the coast at Ballagorey in 1861.
