Along with my son ALLAN and Canadian cousin GERRY,we had traced two of my Uncles
[William and Ernest both born in Maughold]who moved to live and work as brick setters in Bradford[1901 census]both living at 13 Dyson St.
Looking to find Kissack descendants/relatives of the Uncles [to no avail] a map of the general area revealed that in the immediate vicinity of Dyson St, were
the following named roads/streets: Onchan,Tynwald,Mona,Laxey,Manxman,Peel,Crosby,Snaefell:Ramsey and Sulby
Query: where did all the Manx names come from? surely not from my Uncles!
Was there a mass emigration of Manxmen to Blackburn in the late 1800's early
1900's?
If so why Blackburn ?
Did one of our countrymen [and who was he]rise to a status ie Mayor that allowed him to name these streets from fond memories of his homeland?
