Have you any info or ideas on the theories I have been told about, the possible old Norse/ Icelandic connections?
Another theory I was told is that our name came from St Bridgette and meant a follower of that saint, the name is an English translation of the Gaelic name "Mylevreeshey" one of my father's relatives spent some time on IOM and explored that background of the emigrants to Aust, I have some documents here which he came back with, I can send you a copy by email if you like, it was a research done by someone named Nigel Crowe.
