Re: Cannon/Cannan/Munn - Lonan
In Response To: Re: Cannon/Cannan/Munn - Lonan ()

Picked up on Bernadette's query (21/11/01) on Robert Cannon of Lonan, baptized
september 14th 1800, the son of Charles and Mary Stole (married at Lonan 30th April 1795.
I too am researching the ancestors and movements of the descendants of a Robert Cannon (My GGF)and his wife Jane Quayle who were married Lezayre 24th May 1834.
There are IGI recorded births/baptisms of 5 Robert Cannons born between 1810 and 1817.
1. b 1810 (and I too was originally thrown by the Angus M Cannon supposed conection)
2 c 13th May 1813 ( again a "spurious" Relative George Cannon connection)
3 c 16th May 1813 Son of William Cannon and Cath Corlett.
4. b 3rd Nov 1816 at Michael the son of John Cannon and Jane Christian
5. b 1817 at Bellama
These are five possibilities based on the various ages of Robert and Jane on the Census Returns between 1841 & 1891 for Lezayre.
The chief contender is number three based on recurring names of children & siblings eg the christian name Fletcher recurs in three generations.
Interestingly though a William Cannon and Catherine Corlett were married on January 6th 1798 not at Lezayre but at Lonan.(There is no record of a Cannon/Corlett marriage at Lezayre).......children Catherine, 18/10/01, William 18/10.01, Edward31/3/04, James 17.8.1806, Fletcher 27/8/08 Thomas c 3/3/1811 and my Robert?(ggf) 16/5/1813
Were William and Charles brothers, if so who were their ancestors?
If anyone can shed any further light on any of the above it would be appreciated.
