Is it possible that Emma's father was Richard Lewis rather than Robert? I find a Richard Lewis, farmer in Cheshire on the 1881 Census. He has a married daughter, Emma Quirk, age 30 at his home at the time of the census. Perhaps your Emma was visiting her Mum and Dad? Here is the listing:
