A Minor (below the age of 21) could marry with parental consent, if a boy from the age of 14 and if a girl from the age of 12 in the IOM although I personally know of no marriages involving 12 or 14 yr olds this century. The present legal age for marriage is 16 for both males and females and has been since 1933. The age was raised to 16 in England by the Age of Marriage Act 1929. The age of majority became 18 in Britain in recent years. I believe it is still 21 in USA? Certainly British under 21s get a shock when travelling on US Airlines when they are refused alcohol!
