Re: SAYLE 1700s
In Response To: Re: SAYLE married CORLET 1700s ()

The 1722 Andreas will of Philip Sayle Snr [Arch (23)] has thrown some more light on this family [Philip Sayle of ye Craig buried Andreas 24 April 1722].
It appears that Philip Snr was estranged from his eldest son Philip - the son of his first wife - until "some days before his death" he asked Thomas Radcliffe [one of the jurati] "to go and bring his son Philip Sayle unto him..... then both of them forgave one another all past offences".
The unpaid claims which Philip Jnr had against his father included "For building all of his several houses; for making their several roofs; for eight years making his cooper-work & other business; for hay; for mowing of hay..." etc.
He was also owed "nine shillings due to him by the death of his mother" from James TEAR, taylor.

His two younger half brothers Thomas Sayle and John Sayle were "of the Craig".

From this will and from the admin. of "Bahy Sayle a minor" who died c.1707, it appears that Philip Snr had three children by his first marriage to Jane TEAR: Philip, Bahy, and Margaret who married William MOOR.
By his 2nd marriage to Joney [his execx - "his wife and daughter (both Joneys)"] he had the two sons who now had possession of the Craig, and Joney who presumably married Philip Snr's "son-in-law James TEAR".
Also mentioned was William Sayle dec., Philip Snr's brother.

Eldest son Philip appears to be the Philip Sayle who married [2ndly] Ann Craine in 1725 in Andreas.

I hope someone is still researching these families?
