I am trying to find information on my paternal grandfather, Edward W. Shimmin. We have been provided info that an Edward Shimmin was born on 17 July l955 in the parish of Arbory IOM. This date is about right. What I have been told and what I have found, is that my grandfather was the son of a tailor, sailed between England and the US until settling permantly in the US. He filed 1st Citizenship papers on October 23, 1880. He married, had six children and farmed in Ellendale, North Dakota. Any assistance would be appreciated. My husband and I will be visiting the Isle of Man 22-27 April.
