Thank you, Lois! That is so much more information on the Kneales than I hoped to find in one message. I would welcome the entire quote and if possible the contact information for the Laxey Committee if you have it in case they have any other information on the Kermode portion of the mix.

Something I found among my father's notes mentions Cowley, but it didn't (and in some ways still doesn't) make sense in the context: "Martha Evans was a Cowley and they were related to the Kermodes which will take some following. Martha's mother Ida was a sister to my grandmother Olive" Kermode/Qualtrough/Hudgeon." I think Martha is someone my father met at a NAMA function.

As far as I could tell, Olive didn't have a sister Ida, unless it was a nickname or middle name. I'm not sure if your Cowley line shows an Ida, or if this was some sort of confusion with Jane Kneale Cowley.
