Ginny the witch is a nonsense song sung by children who go round the houses with a Hop tu naa lantern on 31 Oct. very similar to Halloween except the lanterns were traditionally made with swedes - very practically those who ended up in the Americas used the much softer Pumpkin to cut into a lantern. The words as I remember them are
Ginny the witch jumped over the house
To catch a stick to lather the mouse
Hop tu naa, Hop tu naa,
My father's gone away,
And he won't be back until the morning.
Maybe there was a second verse - the last 3 lines above being the chorus. As I said it is a nonsense song.
