Re: Corkill
In Response To: Corkill ()

Hello, My great-grandmother was born - Mary Elizabeth Corkhill, and a guess is that she was born around 1860. She was one of the orphans shipped out of Great Britain during the late 1800's. Her ship left Liverpool, England, and sailed to Nova Scotia. On the ship she met another orphan, and he was John Stanley Lewis. When they were old enough, they married in Nova Scotia. After the birth of their first child, they moved to Stoneham, Massachusetts, USA, and they had a total of 13 children. John and Mary Lewis stayed in Stoneham most of their lives. Mr. Lewis ran an independent newspaper there for many years. They probably married around 1880.

Do you think there is any connection between your Corkhill and mine?

Thanks, Betty
