Joseph Christian

I'm looking for information on my greatgrandfather Joseph CHRISTIAN. This is all the info I have:
Joseph CHRISTIAN was listed on my grandmother's birth cert. as a hotel porter, her mother was listed as Isabella CHRISTIAN, formerly CASSON. I found Isabella and my grandmother's 3 older siblings on the 1881 census in Liverpool (my grandmother was born in Sept. of 1881 and therefor was not on the 1881 census). They ended up having 6 children total. Joseph was not home at the time of the census (don't know where he was). Their first child was 7 years old at the time of the census in 1881. I had the National Index checked from 1867 to 1875 for the marriage cert. of Joseph and Isabella...none found. Isabella was born in 1853, so even 1867 was pushing it. I have a picture taken in 1886 of my grandmother her one of her older sisters and her parents-Joseph and Isabella-at the bottom of the picture it reads F. Woodcock Lenr, Douglas Head, Douglas, I.O.M.
How can I go about checking to see is maybe Joseph and Isabella got married on the I.O.M.? I know I'm fishing, but I've hit that brick wall and can't go back any further on his side. Any help would be appreciated.

TIA,
Marge
