A William Hastie was on the 1st trust deed for East Foxdale Primitive Methodist Chapel, 1833
see http://www.ee.surrey.ac.uk/Contrib/manx/methdism/chapels/efoxd.htm
also in Pigots 1837 directory under Taverns can find
Hastie Wm. (Royal Mail) St.Johns
(Foxdale comes out at St Johns) - now by then the PMs were very strong teetotallers so this is an interesting combination ! assuming same W Hastie - unless of course his name was on the Trust deed because he was acting on behalf of the Mines Company who gave the land
In 1852 Quiggins directory - under dressmakers for Douglas is Hastie Mrs., 34 Atholl street
In 1863 a Margaret Hastie was running an un named Inn in Foxdale (the main one is 'The Baltic' but not sure it was this)
In 1881 Browns directory (under Malew thus presume southern part of Foxdale)
Hastie, Mrs. Agnes, widow, Foxdale
Hastie, Mauris, miner, Foxdale (the Mauris looks like a mis scan for Thomas - Th's can look like M and uri = m as well if lne was poorly printed - will check if important)
Hastie, William, miner, Foxdale
Hastie, William Beckwith, stonecutter, Foxdale
by 1894 we have
Hastie Morris, miner, Barrule (maybe the Morris is correct ?)
Hastie Wm. Beckwith, miner, Barrule
