You could be correct Frances. There were efforts throughout the period of interest, where it appeared that the clergy were pushing to change the name to Boyde. In one case someone had returned to the records to cross out Boddaugh and write it over as Boyde for six children when others in the family were still Boddaugh. Other cases where a Boddaugh father retained his Surname but his children were entered as Boyde. In Wills often both Boddaugh and Boyd were used for the Testator either in the body of the Will or in the remarks following after Probate.
