Hi fellow Hewson's, I am researching my family's Manx geneology at present. I am trying firstly to trace where my Grandad John Robert Hewson worked in Douglas. Its reported in a newspaper he worked for Messrs.Qualtrough and Co. of Castletown Road. My research takes me to the timber yard close to The Tongue, near to Douglas Bridge shown on a 1866 map of the town. Residing in 6a New Bond Street in the late 1890's ... this seems accurate since its close to these premises. I know the family were originally from Ramsey living in Church Street, and King Street at some point in time. My info is taken from imuseum online and is very helpful in Baptism, Marriage and Deaths etc,. There is a wealth of photo's, and other information all available free. I hope someone responds with my request, thank you.
