My male line leads to the parish of Rushen (where we're still clinging on today) in the early 18th century. Before this things obviously become more difficult.
Registers for Malew go back a little further, where there is no shortage of Harrisons as far back as records show. Plenty of them on Abbey lands.
There is also a bunch of Harrisons mostly confined to Andreas.
Is anyone working on any of these families, and have any links been established between them?
I was recently tested as part of the Manx DNA project but so far I'm the only Harrison to volounteer. There are several people by the name of Harris with early emigrant forebears who seem to be related to me.
DNA testing would provide some evidence for possible links between these Harrisons. I know that there are a few of the Andreas line still alive. Not sure what happened to the Malew lot. Is anyone in touch with any other Manx Harrisons who might be willing to be tested?
