Adrienne & I worked together about 2012 to figure out the Lace/Gelling of Marown connections, and it's all on my database. The two Thomas Lace's of Marown , cousins born 1808 and 1810, have been worked out and both stayed in the IOM. So for sure they can be eliminated for John's request.
On Family Search I found 3 other IOM baptisms in the 1800-1810 range.
1. Thos Lace 25 Jun 1804 Andreas s/o Thos Lace & Margt Callister
2. Thos Lace 28 Sep 1806 German s/o Thomas Lace & Cath Quayle.
3. Thos Lace 14 Dec 1806 Andreas s/o Philip Lace & Joney Quayle.
Now we need to start eliminating some of them.
The 1861 census has a Thomas Lace, a Tailor born abt 1807 Isle of Man living in Bethnal Green. He married in Liverpool in 1837 just after registration began and the Family Search image of the marriage only says "father dead" for the father's name.
A few months ago I did some research on the early Lace's of Andreas and Bride, but not quite far enough down to help here. I do have the marriage of the parents of #3 Thos, Philip and Joney who married 1798 Andreas. Phillip died in 1835, so this could be a match to the London Thomas, which would eliminate one. Needs a bit more checking to be sure.
There is a Patrick burial of Thos son of Thos Lace Peeltown "Infant" 17 Dec 1807. This could match #2, but also needs to be checked further.
#1 parents Thos Lace & Margt Callister married 26 Sep 1801 Andreas. The marriage information says Thos was of Andreas a minor with Margt Lace Guardian consenting. The bride was of Jurby. If this turns out to be the right family for John, I think I can trace it back, but it's a big "if".
John, I hope this helps you get started. It's a tough one for sure.
