Peter, do you think it’s possible (or even likely) that William Quayle’s wife Rebecca nee Holmes was related to Sarah Lynchey (nee Mullen ?) and that this might be the reason that Wm was chosen as Andrew Lynchey’s guardian ? Rebecca’s birth year was circa 1783 --- she gave her age in the censuses as:

1851 61
1861 70
1871 89

and burial 90 in 1872 Ballaugh

In 1851 she gave her birthplace as “Balla?ward Ireland, so possibly Ballyward Co Down ? Which part of Ireland was Sarah from ?
