On looking further at the familysearch “tree”, I think that it’s probably all guesswork, from William Callister b 1817 backwards, so apologies for suggesting that it might be useful. I’m pretty sure that the tree’s William b 1817 (a farmer from his son John’s marriage details) isn’t the same person as the William b 1817 (a blacksmith) who was a brother of your John Collister b 1804.
