Andrea
From living memory!
Raymond Caley went to school with my wife and recently died aged 76.
I first met his dad who was the Sulby Station Master in 1960 whilst Mum at that time ran the grocery/Post Office shop South of the village and opposite the Sulby Glen Hotel.
A Quayle girl born much earlier (late 19th century) in the next cottage to my wifes parents in Andreas had married a Cain from Sulby village and they lived in the middle of a short row of Victorian or Edwardian terraced houses on the western side of the street and opposite the older village grocer/Post office shop until she died late 20th century.
My understanding is that if you walk south on the main road from Sulby bridge passing a couple of cottages/houses on your left you are then on what was known as Sulby Street.
The third cottage in this street and immediately before what was the Post Office housing the "Smiths" in 1881 had the Cretneys.
This was almost directly opposite where the Cains later lived.
