Joan, I’ve found the Robert Cowley b 1815 (son of John Cowley and Mgt Kelly of Crammag) in 1841 and subsequent censuses, so he’s not the one who married Cath Lord.

If the following ages of your Robert Cowley, tailor, were accurate----- 25 in 1841 and 29 at death in Jan 1845, then the most likely (but not necessarily the correct) parents for him are the ones suggested by Frances, ie John Cowley and Jane Killey (and this Robert had a twin Elizabeth). I can’t find any other children born to these parents on the IOM.

I’ve almost certainly identified the Margaret Gill who witnessed Robert Cowley’s 1840 marriage to Cath Lord. A Margaret Gill married Thomas Kinnish in Braddan on 1 June 1841 and her signature is a good match. The same Margaret Gill also witnessed the 8 May 1841 marriage of Cath Lord’s sister Jane Lord to Thomas Joughin. Margaret was the daughter of William Gill and Eliz Clucas----she and her siblings were born in Marown. This might be worth following up to see if the Gill family were related to the Lord family, or whether Margaret was a friend of Cath and Jane Lord.
