In Response To: Re: Robert Cowley 1815-1845 ()

Hi Joan

There are several trees on Ancestry which feature Robert Cowley b 1841, son of Robert Cowley (tailor b circa 1815) and Cath Lord. None of them has a convincing set of parents for Robert Cowley b 1815. And none of them has found newlyweds Robert and Cath in the 1841 census with baby Robert b 1841. In case you haven’t got it, here it is.

Then, further along the street, is this the Henry Lord who, 7 years later, signed as a witness at Catherine Cowley nee Lord’s second marriage ?

A witness at Cath Lord and Robert Cowley’s 1840 marriage was Margaret Gill. I have no idea whether she was a relative of Robert Cowley or not. The other witness, John Curphey, probably wasn’t the same person as the John Curphey who became Cath’s second husband --- the signatures don’t appear to be similar. Perhaps one of these witnesses might hold the key to being able to identify Robert Cowley b 1815.
