Hello again David
The Robert Kneale is almost certainly not your R E Kneale. Adelaide Robert came to Adelaide most likely with his older brother Paul Kneale.
On the UK 1851 Census, Paul , his wife Ann Brierly and brother Robert are in Nothampton, miss transcribed as SCALE !!
Paul Scale 30 Joiner b IOM
Ann Scale 21 Upholstress b Legsless, Nothamptoshire
Robert Scale 15 Apprentice b IOM
Paul and Ann had childen Elizabeth 21/11/1852 in Ashton Under Lyne and John Daniel 16/8/1854 in Northampton, then the first of many children , Henry Paul Neale in Adelaide 11/6/1856.
Could not find them on Government Immigrant Ships arriving between 1854 and 1856, and Robert marries in 1860.
I found Paul admitted to the Adelaide Destitute Asylum in 1907 (The year he died) aged 86 , his nationality is given as a "Morrisman" , which we assume should be Manxman. This page shows he came to Adelaide on the " Sorata"
I found this vessel arriving many times in Adelaide , but only from local ports, and mostly without passengers, it did arrive in Sydney 13/9/1854 , but with only two named passengers, on another trip to NZ had 72 un-named passengers in steerage.
Then I found a Robt E Kneale aged 22 as an able-bodied seaman on the "Robert & Betsey" from Launceston to Sydney 17/5/1861.
Only NSW has details for ships doing local port , but could find only one other arrival in Sydney of the "Robert & Betsey" in 1860 and Robt E Kneale not on board.
Cheers
David
