Hello again
some time back made enquiries about my distant relative James Radcliffe born Andreas 1832, who came to Australia in 1854, aged 22 from Liverpool on the ship the Crescent City as able seaman. Upon arriving in Sydney he changed his name to James Parker, reason unknown. Am now trying a different tack to find out more about him: on board with James was " E Kneale" although looking carefully at the original written ship log it is probably RE Kneale, apprentice. This being a very IOM name found an R.E. Kneale born Leyzare in 1833 and I have to assume they were friends who made the trip out together,. this person died in Adelaide South Aust 12 Sep 1890.
Does anyone ( Aus or IOM) know of him?
Did they live and work together in Liverpool before they left?
did the 2 families know one another well on IOM?
do they know the story of the name change ??

appreciate any help even just about the kneale family he came from on IOM
