The John who was married to Ellen is not the right man. He died in the USA. The John and Ellen on the Canada 1901 Census returned to the USA here they are on the US Census:-

His Find a Grave record says he was the son of Daniel and Catherine Corkill. This John Corkill was baptised at Maughold on 7 Mar 1869.
