I don't know the exact date Henry the elder fled to the Island, but I know he was there by 7 December 1792 as he appealed for privilege of Parliament. He was also virtually penniless and he was in debt by this time.

If there is a birth record for Henry Speed the younger around 1793, that would put the matter to bed, assuming it mentions his parents.
