Hi David
I have had no further luck with nailing down Thomas Kneale, either. I had found the Trove references, too, but nothing else specific either in Australia or the IOM.
I note that in W H Kneale's Reminiscences of Ramsey (Part 1 in MNB), he refers to his uncle, William Kneale, emigrating to Australia in ~1852. There are all sorts of potential connections one could make with this information but it's all a bit speculative and I'm probably getting even further from any actual vague family connection back in the IOM. Interestingly, W H Kneale's family apparently lived in Auckland Terrace in Ramsey for a few years in the 1850s. My GG-grandfather owned #10 Auckland Terrace and sold it when he emigrated to Melbourne in 1854.
Thanks again for the help and suggestions.
