illegitimates at this period are very difficult to trace except by family ie private information - I presume your names came from Canadian marriage certs - lodger in a Manx census can cover many non-standard family connections (or none at all) tho often the mother's family is usually connected - but if the father was well connected he or his family could pay for some foster arrangement I don't have easy access to any later census records -

The Mary Ellen Rome might be the one found in Quines Court Ramsey in 1881 aged 2 - i so how did they meet ?
