Manx Genealogy

Mary Ann Coffey

I wonder if anyone can advise me on how I might proceed with my research. After many years trying to trace my family tree, I have managed to take a small step further. My Grandfather was born in Down Northern Ireland, David Henry and his mother is a Mary Ann Coffey. It is only recently that I realise that my Great Grand Mother was Manx. I found this by looking through the 1901 Irish Census it listed Mary Ann Coffey as being born in Ireland, but then the 1911 census list her as being born on the Isle of Man . On a search there is a Mary Ann Coffey born in the same year as my GGM abt 1844 her parents being John Coffee who is Irish and from Down and her mother a Mary Tailor / Taylor. Mary Ann Coffee according to records was from Patrick, but there is no trace of Mary Ann in the 1951 manx census, or any other census, but they mention Mary and John her parents. It leads me to think maybe when Mary Ann was born she went with her parents to Northern Ireland and then her parents came back to the Isle of Man without Mary Ann. If anyone could advise me of what direction I may take in finding more of my roots I would be more than pleased. Thanks Avril
