Richard Caesar QUIRK

Hi trying to find out information about a Richard Caesar Quirk, born c.1845 in Liverpool - parents Richard Quirk [22/05/1814-20/12/1883] & Ann Cosnahan [c. 1812-21/09/1849].
I have found an obituary in the Mona's Herald newspaper, dated 11 November 1868, which reads as follows: "Saturday, November 7, at the Cumberland Inn, James-street, after a long and painful illness, borne with Christian resignation, Richard Caesar, second son of Mr Richard Quirk, in the 23rd year of his age".
He is buried at Braddan Cemetery [grave located] but enquiries at the registry were negative as Death Certificates were not issued in 1868!
Can anyone tell me if possibly the St Barnabas' Church parish register would give me details of his cause of death etc. OR point me in the direction of anywhere else I could obtain this info.
Also does the phrase borne with Christian resignation" have any significance as I have never heard this phrase before.
Were there any 'serious illnesses" on the Island between 1864-1868?
It is possible Richard Caesar was the father of my illegitimate GGF Richard Lewthwaite Quirk [c.1865-1931] who was first registered as Richard Lewthwaite [mother Isabella Jane Lewthwaite], but later took the Quirk name.
The family story was that the publican [Richard Quirk] was the father, but because of the age span it would make more sense that it was his son, Richard Caesar!
Many thanks
