I could not find the death of Ferdinand C in New South Wales in 1844. Could only find two births to him , 1826 Augustus Meurant and 1836 Amelia Murant.
However nobody has mentioned that he was born in France and was convicted in Dublin for Banknote forgery and transported to NSW in 1800.As well as the children he had in Ireland and England , in NSW he had two illegitimate children before marrying (third one) Rosetta Martin and having thirteen (thats 13 !!! ) more children.
On Trove - free - there is an article about the death of his daughter Elvira in 1810.
