I have been checking what I have about the Peter Corkills who went to Maughold from Braddan c.1700, for a present-day descendant Peter Corkhill.

When Peter CORKILL “Senr” of Ballafaile died in Maughold in 1741 his will included his grandson Peter Corkill (not recorded as son of anyone), as well as his son Peter Corkill.

We know that his son Peter Corkill (probably bapt 27 Aug 1706 Braddan) died in 1767 [will], but his son Peter wasn't bapt until 25 Aug 1745, after his grandfather's will. There is no sign of it being a late baptism, and his sister was bapt 31 Jan 1741/42.

I think this grandson must have come from a different son of Peter d.1741 (son Thomas also mentioned in his will) but I can't find a son Peter for Thomas or for anyone else who was bapt before his grandfather's death.

Any ideas?
