Re: Christian family
In Response To: Re: Christian family ()

Margaret, there is so much more you can find out about your line - you are nowhere near as far as you can go.

I assume you saw my three postings from Tuesday, where I suggested further research leading from the census entries I copied for you?

I had earlier given you these links:
I wrote: You can fill in all the gaps from the parish registers here:
familysearch.org/search/collection/1784428

And free censuses:
familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1&region=UNITED_KINGDOM_IRELAND

Also IOM indexes (where you will find burials, marriages, birth dates, wills): www.iomfhs.im/lawsons/LawsonBMD/Main_Site_index.html

For example, there is a burial entry for CHRISTIAN, John [aged] 77 German 12 Apr 1866, which fits his age perfectly as given in the 1861 census, and at his bapt which I posted for you (so you have his parents' names), and an index entry for a will which looks like his:
CHRISTIAN, John, 1866 German A [no:]46, [LDS film no:]0106268.

There are also will summaries for when you get back earlier, and much local information on Frances's website: www.isle-of-man.com/manxnotebook/
