the first Gorree/Gorrey (other than one in Lonan 1735 who left an illeg dau) were Wm Gorrie + An Murray for who I never found a marriage but 1st child on Island was Thomas in 1776 - Wm d 1789 noted as of Ballacallin (a short distance from Peel but in Kk Patrick) - the oldest Gorry family in Peel were Wm + Cath he aged 70 (but not in 1851 census and I don't have a burial) - in marr both noted as of parish Kk Patrick but no obvious bapt for Wm but not indicated as Irish in 1841 - I wonder if he was brought to Island as a very young child - the Gorry family was in Peel in 1816 as included in the census taken that year

A W Moore places name as of Irish origin but deriving from Norse Godred
