Re: james scarff

I don't know how significant this is if at all, but the schoolmaster John Killip who shared the 1726 purchase of Raa with John Scarffe ultimately became more connected with the Scarffe family because his youngest daughter Jane Killip married John Scarffe's youngest son Daniel in 1762 (uncle to James who started this entire discussion). This occurred 2 years before the elder JohnK and his wife died 2 days apart.

The 1783 John Killip may be the grandson of above schoolmaster John Killip. He was born 1758, eldest son of JK's eldest son William. The James Scarffe in 1783 could be the James b 1728 s/o James & Eleanor (Christian) or the James b 1757 s/o Philip & Ann (Callister). The former is the only James who could have married Mary Callister 1773 as the other one would be too young. I don't know Philip & Thos Quayle who shared the other part intack.

I think I'm back to the beekeeper 1803 being the older James Scarff. Looking at the rather large family of Philip & Ann Scarffe, I don't think they were landowners. If the 20 Mar 1816 Lonan burial of Ann Scarffe is her (and I think it is), the register says "a Nil or Pauper".
