Thanks Jean. That makes sense. I had forgotten about the Gill/Killey thing. If Isabella Christian GILL/KILLEY is the mother of the "nephews", I think they are actually grandsons because she is also living with her mother Jane KILLEY (nee CHRISTIAN) in 1871. Have also just noticed that in 1861 John J COTTIER is listed as a grandson. So that would make him their daughter Jane's son. Here I was thinking this might take me back another generation, never mind, still good to clear things up.
