Re: William Cowle & Ellen Brew (Santon)

Thank you again Frances - the additional wills in early Santon are really useful.

Whilst I think that we have got the direct line sorted viz

Christopher Brew & Ann Curmine
Christopher Brew & Margaret Kermott
Robert Brew & Christian Kissack
Eleanor Brew & William Cowle
Margaret Cowle & Henry Quay

the sidelines are like a jigsaw without the box.

Your summary on MNB of 1629 Christopher Brew is interesting. His wife is Mally Kenish but is this Christopher the older from the marriage contract? If so Ann Curmine has died and Mally is the second wife. The two children (Arthur & Margaret) would be from the second marriage and the eldest bretheren and sisters (the supervisors) would be from the first marriage. Christopher (the son of Christopher & Ann) has a brother Arthur so in fact he would be a half brother. There were a number of land transactions around 1620 so that would possibly be when Ann died. It certainly fits but is rather circumstantial.

I think that we have worked out who Christopher the younger is on the1647 will of Margaret Kermode - he is the son of her husband's brother Thomas.
