TFM had been for a few years Priest Vicar of (the then new) Truro Cathedral. Later he was vicar of St John's, Penzance and left there to become vicar of Probus. He was greatly missed in the Pz area and so a local, influential family (Bolitho) made efforts to get him back to the area as soon as a church living became vacant. In 1912 the vicar of Gulval (just outside Pz) died and TFM was offered the living which he accepted. He died in (the old) Gulval vicarage in 1932. There are very few people around in Gulval who now remember him but I do rememebr him being much talked of and revered as a saintly man.
