Sophia GILL born about 1828

I hope someone somewhere may be able to help solve my problem as I feel I’ve exhausted all options.
Sarah GILL was born about 1828, believed to be in Braddan. At the time of her marriage to Matthew BURTON on 31st July 1854 she was living in Manchester (1854 3rd qtr vol 8D page 147) – she stated her father was Robert GILL whose occupation was a farmer butcher. I have a copy of her marriage certificate if anyone wishes to see it.
In the 1841 census I can find a Sophia GILL born about 1828 in Braddan, but the father is stated as John.

All opinions would be given serious consideration. Is Robert GILL and Robert GELL the same person, and as I understand things, there are vague connections between the occupations of a farmer/butcher/tanner.
