My gr gr grandfather was coachman for Lord Bishop Hill and ended his coachman's career in 1890 working for Clarke and White when he was killed by the carriage he was putting away for the night.
His son was at Churchtown then worked for George A Ring, then Drinkwater @ Kirby and finally for Colby Cubbin so your suggestion regarding George Quayle's book is appreciated. I presume it will be at the Museum - I'll have a look when I am next there.
