very impressive amount of work - I know how difficult some of these wills are to read - however tho I understand she is a Mormon and working at SLC there are a couple of some strange comments in the intro eg Xpin etc very commonly found as abbreviation for Christian (both 1st and family name) the XP is definitely not XS as she suggests but derives from ChiRho (Ch R) the first two letters in the Greek for Christ - often seen superimposed with the X over the tail of the P.
A P with a line across the tail is short for Pr (the following vowel is usually implied).
Her point re a cow is that every cow being left to several persons had to have a certain amount of grazing land associated thus had more implied worth - likewise the joint owners did not take a cleaver to said cow (unless possibly an old animal) but shared the milk, butter + cheese - and to get these the cow had to produce a calf.
The Manx 14pence actually comes a little later than this period, all rents are in English money 12 pence to 1 shilling - there were no Manx silver coins but when Manx brass currency was introduced 14 Manx brass pennies (lighter in weight than English pennies) would be swopped for a silver English shilling
