Hi Penny,
I assume the burial you mentioned for her father was William COSTAIN aged 59
[residence] Ramsey, buried Maughold Dec 26 1870?
And that this was Jane's bapt [IGI]:
name: Jane Costain
event: Christening
event date: 26 Apr 1846
event place: Ramsey, Isle of Man
gender: Female
father: Wm Costain
mother: Ann Watson
digital folder number: 004498052
It looks as though the family moved to Ramsey from German between Ann's bapt in German in 1837 and Elizabeth's bapt in Ramsey in 1840. Henry was also bapt in German (1836), and Eliza (1843) and William (1845) in Ramsey.
The IGI has:
name: William Costeau ["u" misread for "n"]
event: Marriage
event date: 10 Oct 1835
event place: Arbory, Isle of Man
gender: Male
spouse: Anne Watson
digital folder number: 004499830
You could use the IGI to find their respective families:
www.familysearch.org [Isle of Man, Parish Registers, 1598-1950]
In the 1861 census William 48, joiner, & Ann (47) Costain were in College St Ramsey with children Henry 24 Sawyer, Jane 15 scholar, & Margaret 11 scholar, all born Ramsey. In 1851 John St Ramsey, William 38 Joiner b.Ramsey, wife Ann 37 b.Peel, Henry 15 b.Peel, Ann 14 b.Peel, Elizth 10 b.Ramsey, Eliza 8 b.Ramsey, Jane 6 b.Ramsey, Margt 1 b.Ramsey, which looks more accurate.
Ann COSTAIN 76 yrs., Ramsey, buried Maughold 26 Feb 1889.
I couldn't find Owen or Jane (Costain) Jones in later censuses. When did they go to Canada?
