The 1808 will for Isabella Gelling (a spinster) is for sure the aunt of the Margaret Gelling who married John Pearson 8 May 1808 Braddan. Margaret was baptized 24 Feb 1782 Braddan, the youngest child (of 7) of John Gelling & Margaret Quilliam, md 26 July 1763 Marown. John was of Ballamillaghyn, Braddan but according to his 1829 Braddan will was of Ballarain in Ballaugh at the end of his life. He named his 5 youngest Pearson grandchildren (Daniel, "August", Margaret, Elizabeth and Catharine) as his executors with the statement "(their father in America)", and a John Clarke of Ballaugh was appointed administrator in trust. The 3 oldest Pearson children (John bp 1809, Thomas bp 1811, and William bp1814) were over 14, so for some reason old John Gelling age 89 declared only his under-age grandchildren (all Pearson) as administrators and avoided his several other older grandchildren, and barely mentioned his 3 living children Margaret, John & William. With Dad in America, it seems the rest of the Pearson family then quickly skedaddled over to America to join him. Hmm. After writing this last sentence I had a sudden thought that maybe the older Pearson children were already in America with their father?
I'm afraid I know nothing about the Pearsons.
