Hi Sue and Frances. I’ve reviewed my earlier message and apologise for the marriage date – This was Catherine Moughtin’s date of death in Jurby.
The baptism certificate for John, son of John Quayle and Cath Moughtin at Lezayre 21 April 1821. I’ve been looking for both gtgtgrandparents particularly Cath Moughtin’s family for some time and I focused on Tim Davis and his Moughtin family (message 23/9/2004) but haven’t established any relationship.
This family is from Ballaugh (just down the road from Lezayre) and has several Catherine Moughtins in the family including Patrick Moughtin + Joney Quayle m 1789. Tim’s message lists 10? children with the 5th being Catherine which could put her birth around 1795-1805 which would fit with her marrying John Quayle in 1820-21 and being the parents of John Quayle jnr.
Your Brew/Moughtin connection may have some pointers?
John Quayle is listed with George and Margery in IGI and as noted in other messages John is the 2nd John Quayle at Ballafayle. I’ve subscribed to FMP and made inquiries on Ancestry but without success. I think I’ve gone as far as I can go. Thanks
